FIND A WAY TO WIN IN COLLEGE
Eric is a former Student Affairs Administrator, Assistant Dean, Advisor, and Instructor with more than ten (10) years of documented success in higher education. Eric has mentored students and staff, he’s spoken to thousands of college students, and he’s considered an expert in the areas of student activities programming and involvement! He’s won it all, when it comes to Student Life! However, before finding a way to win, Eric had to experience near catastrophic failure!
As a high school student, Eric was placed in a “credit recovery program.” He was ineligible to play baseball his sophomore year due to his 0.3 GPA. In moments of frustration, his high school teachers scoffed at Eric, stating he’d never make in college. At one point, he even considered dropping out of high school completely at the age of 16. After barely graduating from high school 5th from the bottom of his senior class, Eric predictably failed out of his freshman year of college and lost his athletic scholarship. He was down in the 4th quarter, with time running out.
Finally, Eric decided to find a way win. He began thinking of college as a game and created a game plan. He committed himself to winning, he focused on his best plays and he realized that hard work was greater than talent. After receiving a scholarship at an open tryout, Eric set the school “saves” record in baseball, made “all conference” and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Eric then applied his game plan once again and obtained a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership!
